Day 83: Gallipoli

We headed west from Istanbul this morning, keeping north of the Sea of Marmara until we got to the Gallipoli Peninsula. As we approached the peninsula we watched a video on the bus giving all the background and history of the Gallipoli Campaign during WW1. It was a fairly long bus ride, and after having lunch we started along the peninsula, visiting the various landing beaches and memorials along the way.

We continued on to the highest point in the area and explored some of the grown in trenches from the campaign as well as got some great views.

After all that we took a ferry across the water to the Asian side and drove a ways to our hotel. I have a nice room on the ground floor facing the pool so I can just hop over the balcony to get too and from the pool quickly. There's also a private beach, and of course another nice sunset.
