Day 226: Rural Living

Our next destination was among the fields just at the fringe of the Chitwan National Park. They ran out of normal rooms at the lodging for me, so I got one of the rooms that normally serves the staff. It didn't have a washroom/shower in the room, but in exchange they offered me free meals for my duration there, which a trade I was happy to make.

Late in the afternoon we rowed across the river behing our lodge and wandered through the nearby fields to visit a rural little village. This was true rural architecture as most of the buildings were made of a mix of mud and cow dung and had thatched roofing. Just walking through the fields and streets of the village and seeing everybody go about their normal lives was a nice reminder of the diversity still in the world.

As we crossed back through the fields we were treated to a spectacular sunset as the sky turned red and the sun slowly dipped below the horizon, causing the mountains in the distance to glow pink.
